Mr VWho is Mr. V?

Mr V is a middle school history teacher in the Boston Public Schools. He is interested in bringing rigorous learning through critical thinking and differentiation in the classroom to engage all learners and the build the future leaders of tomorrow.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but raised in Boston, Mr. V is a product of the Boston Public Schools and a graduate of Boston Latin School. From there Mr. V went on to attend Williams College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Latina/o Studies. In 2009, he completed his Master of Education at UMass Boston (through the Boston Teacher Residency). He completed his residency year at New Mission High School in Roxbury.

Now entering his tenth year as a teacher in Boston, he currently teaches Humanities to 7th graders @ Boston Latin Academy located in Roxbury.

 

Mr. V - what else do you do?

In 2012, I founded Boston Youth Wrestling to promote youth development in inner-city Boston by inspiring personal, academic, and athletic success through the sport of wrestling. Since then, BYW has been able to expand wrestling opportunities to over 200 students each of the last three school years at 15 school and community center sites across the cities of Boston and Chelsea. Mr. V has also been a wrestling coach in the Boston Public Schools for the last 8 years, and continues to coach and mentor the students of BYW, in addition to serving as President of the organization.
