Humanities 7 – Homework – Oct 30

Today in class, students concluded the mock trial The People v. Columbus, et al by making their closing statements. The jury deliberated and made its final verdict, which was presented to the court. Students had a chance to debrief the activity as a whole class.
Homework - Respond to the questions on the Columbus Trial Reflection - who (or what) was most guilty of the killing of thousands, perhaps millions of Taíno Indians in the years after 1492, and should this event be considered "genocide" according to the definition laid out by the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (on p. 48 of your notebook)?
