latinos

In celebration of Latino Heritage Month (September 15-October 15), students will have an opportunity to complete an EXTRA CREDIT assignment, that will count in both their Humanities and ELA classes! Assignments must be turned in by
Friday September 25th for full credit. Follow the steps below to get started.

1) Based on your group's microcosm project in ELA class, choose a prominent Latina/o figure or group from history to bestow upon your microcosm.

2) Research that individual using the Encyclopedia Latina (which can be found in Room 234) - if you cannot stay afterschool to do your research, take a picture or get a copy of the pages you need to take home.

3) Write a report on your individual or group (neatly handwritten or typed) by answering the following questions:

a) Summarize the figure or group that your group has chosen to honor in the naming of your microcosm. Your summary should answer the basic questions of who, what, where, and when. This should be written as a paragraph of at least 5-6 sentences.

b) Discuss how this figure or group is a good representation of your microcosm's educational values. This should be written as a paragraph of at least 5-6 sentences.

c) In your opinion, why should we study this figure or group? This should be written as a paragraph of at least 5-6 sentences.

4) Turn in your completed assignment to Mr. V in Room 234 by
Friday September 25th @ 1:45 PM.
