p. 39 - Write in BIG LETTERS in the middle of the page the title of our next unit: "Unit 2: Vote!"

Homework - p. 36 - Write a note (6+ sentences) to Mr. Valenzuela telling him how you are studying, what strategies you are using, what you feel confident about, and what you feel concerned about for next Tuesday's unit test.

Reminder - The interview transcript of the Unit 1 Interview of an Immigrant Project is due TOMORROW! Your transcript should be neatly written or typed (in question & answer format).

Civics Homework – Oct 7


Today in class, students discussed and debated the proper way in which the government should deal with the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, including the nearly 2 million that were brought to this country when they were under the age of 16 - the so-called "DREAMers." Students also practiced making strong arguments by analyzing arguments in support of and against the DREAM Act.

Homework - p. 32 - Complete the Undocumented Immigrants Interview handout by asking at least THREE (3) adults their opinions on what should happen to undocumented immigrants in this country.

Today in class, students described how communities come together and respond to hate by finishing the film Not in Our Town III: The Light in the Darkness. Students also reflected on which strategies could be most effective when dealing with preventing hate and discrimination in our own community.

Homework - p. 30 - Complete the Working Together To Stop Hate Handout - this is worth TWO HW STAMPS, so make sure you complete BOTH sides!
